Despite a very busy semester teaching, I was able to get my hands on some new (to me) lab equipment! These old magnifying right light stands would be great for lighting while we image toe pads, except for the magnification part and the clunky and warn out springs holding the arm joints.

So after some simple hacksawing and rewiring, and the addition of a beefy flex arm from B&H, this is where we arrived.

Another vials piece of lab equipment was an old paisley print comfy couch to read papers on, write code, grade, or sometimes nap. It really excited about how well it matches my old paisley comfy chair in my office.
