This summer I had the amazing experience of conducting fieldwork in Morocco. We had a ton of support from our local collaborators Tahar Slimani and Abderrahim S’khifa and collaborators in Portugal (James Harris and all his students and Sónia Ferreira and her team), as well as students and postdocs from the Daniele Salvi lab in Italy and Maggie Haines from Australia.

Although the trip was short, it was a great success. We were able to visit a handful of sites throughout the High Atlas mountains. I was interested the gecko communities and we were able to collect great preliminary data, and have a great foundation to plan future trips.

When camping in the desert at high elevations, not everything always goes to plan..

But we lucky enough to see a great selection of species.

And even trilobites!
