We attended our first outreach event here in Mississippi yesterday at New Hope Middle school. It went really well! I had my newly built clothes-pin-and-seeds bird game and our departmental administrative assistant’s son helped us out and brought his pet leopard gecko Snipe.
I also brought along two MUW honors college students to present their research to the public and biology senior Leigha Jackson. Myia Graham put together a great activity showing folks how misfolded proteins spread in yeast cells using Play dough! Elizabeth Fain brought some river water and a microscope to show visitors different local freshwater invertebrates!
