During this last spring semester, I was lucky enough to find some time to do a little outreach. I was lucky enough to help as a BSA merit badge co-leader, helping young scouts work on their Environmental Science merit badges. This event was primarily organized by by Dr. Nicole Welch, but it was a great experience to help out!

I also reached out to the Columbus Boys and Girls Club and spent a Friday afternoon running an activity with the 4th and 5th graders, teaching them about how stretchy materials respond to weights, using a modified version of a tendon lab from my biomechanics course that uses rubber bungie cords as a stand-in for kangaroo tendons!

Both of these activities were a little hectic, but a great crash course in the outreach opportunities around the Columbus area and I look forward to refining future activities for them.
